Transcranial direct current stimulation of primary motor cortex modulates post-contraction potentiation

چکیده

Surface electromyographic activity (sEMG) of the biceps brachii (BB) during weak elbow flexion has been reported to immediately increase after strong even while exerting consistent force; this phenomenon is called “post-contraction potentiation” (PCP). To determine whether central nervous system involved in PCP, we investigated effect transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and magnetic (TMS) primary motor cortex (M1) PCP. Initially, participants were instructed perform successive muscle contraction tasks with different forces: 2% (Test 1); then 25%, 50%, or 100% (conditioning [CC]); again 2) maximum voluntary (MVC). In subsequent experiments, CC intensity was set at 50% MVC, tDCS (anodal, cathodal, sham) applied M1 before task. last experiment, TMS evaluate excitability corticospinal tract Tests 1 2. The MVC generated but didn’t 25% MVC. Anodal significantly decreased magnitude cathodal showed an compared sham tDCS. BB motor-evoked potential amplitude Test 2 lower that 1. These findings suggest changes resultant activation pattern unit play a role generating

Effect of Motor Cortex Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)on the Strength and Endurance performance of Healthy Collegiate Subjects

Introduction: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive technique used to modify the activity of the cortex of the brain. This form of current is capable of inducing changes in the electrical activity inside and outside of the neurons, which leads to a change in the resting membrane potential and thus improves the efficiency of the neural synapse. Therefore, the aim of th...

W6: Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation Workshop

It is an Intensive 1-day course for introducing utilizing transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in an applied format. This technique is a noninvasive brain stimulation that uses direct electrical currents over the head to stimulate specific parts of the brain which modulates neuronal activity. It has strong potentiality in the field of medical and neuroscientific research. Anodal stimu...

Trans-spinal direct current stimulation modulates motor cortex-induced muscle contraction in mice.

The present study investigated the effect of trans-spinal direct current (tsDC) on the firing rate, pattern, and amplitude of spontaneous activity of the tibial nerve and on the magnitude of cortically elicited triceps surae (TS) muscle contractions. The effect of combined tsDC and repetitive cortical electrical stimulation (rCES) on the amplitude of cortically elicited TS twitches was also inv...

Transcranial direct current stimulation modulates pattern separation.

Maintaining similar memories in a distinct and nonoverlapping manner, known as pattern separation, is an important mnemonic process. The medial temporal lobe, especially the hippocampus, has been implicated in this crucial memory function. The present study thus examines whether it is possible to modulate pattern separation using bilateral transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) over the...

Modulation of Cortical Inhibitory Circuits after Cathodal Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation over the Primary Motor Cortex

Here, we aimed to evaluate whether cathodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) over the primary motor cortex (M1) and primary somatosensory cortex (S1) can modulate cortical inhibitory circuits. Sixteen healthy subjects participated in this study. Cathodal tDCS was positioned over the left M1 (M1 cathodal) or left S1 (S1 cathodal) with an intensity of 1 mA for 10 min. Sham tDCS was ...
